Pilis Bike Anna-laki route (Hidegvölgy P+B)
A tour that goes mostly on wide forest roads and mostly gravel-covered double-track paths, making it rarely muddy and easily navigable even with a simple trekking bike. Despite its short length, it is rich in sights. The atmosphere and tranquility of Anna-laki meadow will surely captivate everyone; it is worth timing your break here. Shortly after, Képesfa offers an opportunity to reflect and rethink our relationship with nature.
Halfway through in Nagykovácsi, taking advantage of civilization's amenities, you can replenish your food and water supplies, then examine the familiar path from a different perspective after a break. Not only because of the 180-degree turn, every path and meadow will show a different face—as there is no two identical rides in the forest.

Description:
Hidegvölgy - Képesfa (PB11)
- Terrain: dirt road, gravel road
After leaving the parking lot, pedal for a few minutes on the Z▲ trail, then turn left at a clearing! In the forest's rather dense network of paths, you will need to follow a right-left-right-left combination, so it's best to carefully watch the markings at every intersection. After a bumpy descent, we cross the paved road leading to a waste collection and recycling site operating on the area of an abandoned quarry. Continue rolling until you reach the wide logging road! Turn right there to start a long climb. Although not terribly steep, it takes quite a while.
Upon reaching the summit, after a quick descent, you'll find yourself at the Anna-laki meadow, a particularly quiet and peaceful place that is worth taking a short or longer break. Before continuing, refresh yourself as another climb awaits! Pedal northward along a charming, limestone road in the shade of the tree canopy. If you persist, you'll soon reach the Képesfa junction.
Képesfa - Nagykovácsi (PB10, PB11)
- Terrain: gravel road, asphalt
Heading north, at first we ride on a rather unpleasant logging road full of large stones and ruts, so concentrate well! The condition improves with time, the ground becomes easier and smoother to handle. At the end of the straight descent, Nagykovácsi appears, while fields surround us on both sides. To the left, the bare cliffs of Széna Hill provide a spectacular backdrop. After passing the barrier, be careful: instead of rolling into the last street of the village, keep left onto a narrow grassy path! Once inside the municipality, just a right turn awaits, and you are almost in the town center. After circling the church, you will find the P+B point on Kossuth Lajos Street.
Nagykovácsi - Képesfa (PB10, PB11)
- Terrain: asphalt, gravel road
After a short break at the parking lot and turning around, head towards the church, then quickly approach the town border by circling it. A left turn leads to Telki Street, and you are almost there. Cross a small bridge over the Ördög-árok stream originating nearby and flowing to the town center, and slowly leave Nagykovácsi. A narrow single-lane road opens to the right and leads after a few hundred meters into a wide forestry road, then you reach the forest edge. The continually ascending path gets a bit steeper, with limestone gravel replaced by fist-sized or larger stones. Fortunately, this does not last long: soon we reach Képesfa, visible on the right side. In the expressively named Széltörés Forest, a devastating storm struck in 1924, sadly causing casualties. In their memory, a holy picture was placed on the old oak tree standing here.
Képesfa - Hidegvölgy (PB11)
- Terrain: gravel road
After leaving the junction, you immediately find yourself on a descent. The limestone ground is pleasantly fine and comfortable in some places, but in others consists of larger stones and even ruts which can make it trickier. For this reason, it is important to proceed cautiously. After a few minutes of rolling, you reach a quiet and peaceful spot, the Anna-laki meadow. The clearing equipped with benches has a wonderful atmosphere, enhanced by the hunting lodge nestled at its edge—a true fairytale building. Opposite it, one can remember Pál Csergezán, a painter closely connected to the forest and nature.
From the meadow, the path goes uphill again for a short turn, then upon reaching the top of Telki Hill, you can shift onto the big chainring. By forest standards, the very wide logging road is almost like a highway. The sloping road invites you to speed up but don’t let the bike accelerate too much! Speeding can easily cause slipping on the stones, plus you will soon need to take a sharp turn.
After a long straight path, the logging road bends slightly right. In the middle of the bend, turn left and continue on a narrower two-rut path in the forest. The recently planted trees frame a beautiful view of the prominent Kopasz Hill on the right. After crossing the paved road, climb a hill, then turn right. Watch the tree markings carefully as several direction changes are needed within a few hundred meters! Finally, upon reaching the edge of a small clearing, turn onto the Z▲ trail, which leads back to the Hidegvölgy resting place.
Public transport
Unfortunately, Hidegvölgy is not really accessible by public transportation when carrying a bicycle. There is no train or HÉV station within 10 kilometers, and even from those you would have to use busy roads to get here. It is more practical to arrive by car to the starting point of the route.Get Timetable to destination
Parking
The starting point of our route can be found along the main road connecting Telki and Budakeszi, which also includes a large parking lot. You are likely to find a suitable spot for your car even on busy weekends.Coordinates
