WATCH OUT! - Campaign for respectful coexistence in nature
- Fire & Smoking - Making fires, smoking, and grilling are strictly prohibited in the forest and must be absolutely avoided! Fires and thus great damage to nature and wildlife can only be prevented this way.
- Be considerate while out and about - Always behave considerately, friendly, and respectfully towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Nature protection - Stay on the designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest at dusk at the latest to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.
- Picnic & Waste - Remember a garbage bag for the way and take waste back home. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Leash dogs - Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Roadbook
The starting point is the Frankenstein train station. From there, follow the footpath parallel to B37 to the left towards Diemerstein.
At the Schlossberg country inn, turn right into Diemersteiner Valley. After about 200 m, you must turn right onto a narrow path. To the left is a landscape pond. You may catch a glimpse of the goats and donkeys of the Frankenstein grazing guild, which keep the area clear of growth for the TU Kaiserslautern. Now you are on a marked hiking trail (yellow stripe) that will safely lead you to your destination. After about two hours, benches at the Wattenheimer Hut invite you to take your first break. Continue following the "yellow stripe" towards the A6. An underpass brings you to the other side. Then immediately turn right onto a driveway, follow it, and always pay attention to the markings. Later, turn again onto a path that leads directly to Eiswoog. The inn "Forelle" is known for its good cuisine. You can swim in the lake or rent a rowboat.
Further on (about 3 km long), follow the Barbarossa bike and hiking trail, which from Eiswoog is also marked with the "Yellow Stripe," and walk past Kleehof to the entrance of Ramsen. If you want to replenish your supplies and storage, you can use the shopping and dining options in the center of Ramsen. If you want to go directly to the trekking camp, follow the left-leading "yellow stripe" marking at the entrance of the village, cross the L 395/main road after approx. 220 m, and then follow the path on the opposite side for about 570 m up to the small chapel at the edge of the forest. From here, you meet the two local circular hiking trails marked with numbers 1 and 3. Follow these to the left, slightly downhill, until after about 750 meters, you reach the "Lehrberg" hiking parking lot at the Ramsen hut, the destination of the stage. From here, follow the directions to the trekking camp that you received with your booking confirmation.
Shorter alternative (without Ramsen municipality): From Eiswoog/Forelle inn, follow the "Barbarossa bike & hike trail" marking until after about 2.5 km you see the Ramsen shooting club house on the left. Cross the Eisbach on the bridge there and reach L395 via the club parking lot. Follow the state road about 300 m to the left to the educational trail, which branches right to the Palatinate Forest hut. After 500 m you arrive at the Ramsen hut hiking parking lot, the destination of the stage. From here, follow the directions to the trekking camp that you received with your booking confirmation.
In the Eisenberg area, there were numerous mines. Both underground and aboveground, the railways transported clay and sand between Hettenleidelheim, Eisenberg, and Ramsen.
Many of the vehicles and tracks of the Stumpfwald Railway come from this area and are kept operational by an association. To make this technology accessible to interested visitors, "passenger trains" run through the Stumpfwald every Sunday in the warmer months of the year.

Book recommendations for this region:
Equipment
Since the trekking sites in the Palatinate Forest are somewhat off the villages and common hiking trails, you should of course also carry the appropriate trekking equipment with you.
Here we want to give you a little reminder of what should not be missing in your backpack:
Clothing/Rain protection: All-weather clothing is always an advantage - it can unfortunately rain here too.
Sleeping: The backpack should not be missing: tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, bivy sack or similar...
Food: Drinking bottle and/or thermos flask, stove with fuel and provisions, cutlery/dishes, can opener, lighter, pocket knife, pots and water canister, if necessary water filter tablets, trash bags
With a small grill grate or even a foldable camping grill, you could conjure up a great meal at the campfire. But sausages grilled on a stick also taste excellent in nature...
Washing: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, comb, razor...
Emergency/Health: Personal medication, first aid kit, cough drops, insect repellent, tick tweezers, sun protection, mobile phone, emergency numbers, and ID card
Orientation: GPS device, hiking maps, binoculars, compass, travel guide
Luxury: Books, games, and entertainment for cozy gatherings at the campfire
Supply: Various dining options in nearby towns. Huts of the Palatinate Forest Association are generally open on Sundays and public holidays. You must bring your own water.
Other: Camera, toilet paper, lock, flashlight, batteries
Hiking maps: Palatinate Forest Nature Park, Sheet 1 The Donnersberg, Topographic Map 1:25,000 or Sheet 2 Grünstadt with Stumpfwald, Topographic Map 1:25,000 - Publisher: LVermGeo in cooperation with Palatinate Forest Nature Park and Palatinate Forest Association e. V.
And of course, you should always have your booking confirmation for the trekking camps in the Palatinate Forest in your backpack....
