The ruins of the castle together with the portal of the railroad tunnel and the Frankenstein church form a romantic ensemble of red sandstone.
It got its name from the noble family of Frankenstein, who lived here. The ruins consist mainly of the remains of the lower castle from the late Baptist or early Gothic period. The remains of the upper castle can be reached via a rock staircase.
