Arriving at the Palatinate Forest North Vosges Biosphere Reserve, the forest is reflected in the Eiswoog, making it appear impressively large. The Eiswoog is a magnificent natural spectacle at any time of the year. In autumn, the rising fog creates a mystical atmosphere, while in summer, the lush green of the forest makes the lake glow, earning it the nickname "Palatinate Canada."
The journey to the Eiswoog with the Stumpfwaldbahn is an adventure in itself. The narrow-gauge railway travels from Ramsen through the Stumpfwald, passing bridges and valleys along the babbling Eisbach directly to the Eiswoog. Upon arriving at the train station of the Stumpfwaldbahn below the lake, you will discover one of the most famous structures in the Palatinate, the Eistalviadukt, an imposing railway bridge that serves as a testament to a significant railway history.
Upon arrival at the Pfälzerwald North Vosges Biosphere Reserve, the forest reflects in the Eiswoog, making it appear impressively large. The Eiswoog is a great natural spectacle at any time of the year. In autumn, the rising fog adds a mystical atmosphere; in summer, the lush green of the forest makes the lake shimmer, earning it the nickname "Palatinate Canada." A boat trip on the Eiswoog, wading or swimming in the cool water, or exploring nature on a hike around the Eiswoog with its nature experience trail – all of this is a true experience. The paved and barrier-free path leads past a viewing platform with a magnificent view over the lake. With a bit of luck, you might spot black swans there, and even the rare, deep turquoise kingfisher has its territory at the Eiswoog. Children will find plenty of adventures at the forest playground.
The hotel with restaurant as an official partner of the Pfälzerwald North Vosges Biosphere Reserve offers a splendid panorama over the lake and is a culinary highlight for all connoisseurs. Make sure to visit the traditional craft of trout farming, which is still operated below the restaurant.
