Allgäuer Logenplatzroute - Stage 6: Marktoberdorf-Stötten am Auerberg
Beautiful and scenic hike through meadows and forests from Marktoberdorf towards Auerberg.
A stage on the Allgäuer Logenplatzroute – with the mountains in sight: Please, take a seat! A logenplatz (box seat) is something lofty, at the same time one becomes witness to a festive and special event. On this well over 120-kilometer long route, the main role is played by the mountain panorama, which can usually be wonderfully seen from the gently rolling pre-Alpine landscape. The start and endpoint is the idyllic town of Seeg, the honey village of the Allgäu. Like bees, hikers fly only to the tastiest and most beautiful blossoms on the route: fragrant meadows, wetlands and moors with rare plants and insects, waterfalls, scenic heights, a wild river, and a high mountain with views of Schlosspark, the Alps, and Neuschwanstein Castle.

Schlosspark tips for your route:
Provisions: Bring enough water to drink. A snack tastes especially good on the way.
Weather check: Best to check various services and ask locals familiar with the mountains, as it can quickly rain or storm in the mountains.
Companionship: You should not do a longer route alone, even if it seems easy and harmless. Always leave your route destination at your accommodation.

Roadbook
From the start and welcome plaza, walk along Meichelbeckstraße to the left, continue straight on Kaufbeurer Straße and shortly afterward turn right onto Kurfürstenstraße, which is soon lined with numerous lindens. Leaving Marktoberdorf along the avenue, turn left at the noticeably highest point of the path. After about 200 m, turn right and soon walk through a small forested area. Follow the gravel path to a right curve where it meets an asphalt farm road. Now turn right and walk down a wooded hollow path to Bundesstraße 472. On a parallel footpath, you reach Bertoldshofen. Follow Bundesstraße through the small village and cross the Geltnach river. Then walk out of the village along Schlossbergstraße, which branches off to the right. At the last house, the path gently ascends along a forest edge. After the climb, keep left and enter the small village of Burk. After passing a farm, turn left at the nearby T-junction and shortly afterward follow the through road out of the village to the right. Just before a curve, turn right onto a path. After crossing a stream, walk through a small wooded area with meadows on the left and shrubbery on the right. Walk through another small forest and meet the Geltnach river again. After crossing the river, turn left onto the parallel field path towards Stötten am Auerberg. Later, a bridge and another water body are crossed leading to a nearby property. Passing the buildings, immediately turn right and walk to Stötten am Auerberg. Following Burker Straße, you arrive at the church of Saint Peter and Paul in the village center.

Equipment: With good, well-worn hiking shoes, you are safe and blister-free. For clothing, layering is recommended: a short and a long shirt (cotton dries poorly, so better wool or special sportswear), zipper pants, sweater, jacket, and rain cape. Also pack change of clothes, headwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, first aid kit, and flashlight in your backpack.
