3-day hike Gerstreitalm via Filzmoosalm
Beautiful multi-day circular route directly from the town center of Großarl.
Day 1:
On the first day of this hike, you will leisurely walk to the Heugathalm and further on to the Gerstreitalm.
Day 2:
Refreshed, the next day you will reach the Saukaralm. The view from here is simply unique. The Hohe Tauern, the Hochkönig, as well as the Tennen and Hagen mountain ranges make this pasture one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Großarltal. Via the Spatkar, you pass the Trögseen. These "Lacken" are small moor lakes that are especially refreshing for your feet in high summer. Along the ridge, you reach Gründegg. Here, you then descend to the Loosbühelalm and continue to the Filzmoosalm.
Day 3:
Awakened by cowbells and freshly energized from a delicious alpine breakfast, on the third day you trek uphill to Filzmoossattel and Filzmooshöhe, where a summit cross lovingly crafted in detail stands. Looking back now, you can see the mighty Draugstein. Ascent to Filzmooshörndl, from where you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains as well as a fantastic summit experience. The descent goes to Stangersattel and then to the Remsteinkopf. At the Bichlalm, you can make a last stop and enjoy a traditional snack before heading back via Himmelsleiter to the starting point in the town center of Großarl.
Author’s recommendation
Bichlalm is one of the scenic alpine pastures in the Großarltal. Just below the pasture, there is a bench where you can especially enjoy the view.
