Schlosspark cycling route in the Allgäu
The Schlosspark cycling route in the Allgäu is a quality bike route approximately 221 km long.
On the Schlosspark cycling route in the Allgäu, you will experience the Ostallgäu in all its variety and beauty and can follow the spirit of the king. You will understand why King Ludwig II chose this region to realize his dreams and built the castle right here. From the castle, you can enjoy an impressive view over the region. Like in a park, there are repeatedly sightlines to the royal castles, but also particularly idyllic places invite you to dream.
The starting point is the town of Füssen with its scenic old town, before reaching the impressive royal castles on cycling paths at Hohenschwangau. On your subsequent ride along the Ammergebirge, you will encounter a sacred highlight with the UNESCO World Heritage pilgrimage church in the Wies. Further on, you will reach the northern Schlosspark shaped by rural agriculture through former railway lines and quiet secondary roads, with bustling small towns and idyllic villages. At Gennach, you will reach the northernmost point of the round and then follow the course of the alpine river Wertach, largely on water-bound paths, passing the Kneipp spa town of Bad Wörishofen. Unique Alpine panoramas and characteristic villages mark your further way south to Nesselwang. At the forefront to the mountains, you return along the beautifully scenic Weißensee lake to Füssen.
The Schlosspark cycling route in the Allgäu with a total length of 221 km is divided into five stages, which are also easy to cycle for pleasure cyclists. Thus, individual sections of the full round can be freely combined to suit your preferences.
There are also two shortcut options, which are not signposted!
- Shortcut from Helmishofen via Kaufbeuren and Irsee to Eggenthal.
- Shortcut from Stötten a.A. via Bertoldshofen, Marktoberdorf and Leuterschach to Oberthingau.
