A hike from the Abbey Church in Otterberg to the Palatinate Forest Club Hut "Waldhaus Am Himmelreich".
There is also the possibility to visit the Motorcycle Museum in Otterbach.
Otterberg (church square) - Kirchstraße northwards - turn right to Hauptstraße - roundabout - turn left into Bergstraße onto the
marker: "Green-Yellow-Bar"
Bergstraße - Lauerhöfer Straße - Am Sonnenhang - turn right (Straße Am Sonnenhang upwards) - Stone Cross - Lauerhof - Otterbach Hut "Waldhaus Am Himmelreich" - Otterbach (Eckstraße) - turn right into Otterstraße - Motorcycle Museum (in the former church) - turn left into Kapellenstraße - after about 150 m turn left onto the bike path (behind the bridge - after the Otterbach) onto the
marker: "Jakobs Pilgerweg"
eastwards - crossing L 367 - animal enclosure - turn left Otterberg (Kapellenweg) - turn right into Otterstraße - turn left into Bachstraße - roundabout - turn right into Hauptstraße - church square in Otterberg
ATTENTION! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Always behave foresighted, friendly and considerate towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Pay attention to nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths.
- Remember a garbage bag for the way and take your rubbish back home.
- Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- Observe all path closures for your own safety. Even on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking areas. Leave room for emergency routes and agricultural machinery.
- Please give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

A visit to the Abbey Church and the historic old town is worthwhile.

General information:
Especially in autumn, take care that fallen leaves on the ground may cover unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees may still fall or branches may drop afterwards. Particularly under adverse weather conditions, there may be muddy and slippery sections on near-natural paths. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required at some places. You must expect path impairments of this kind when hiking. If you think that certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them.

We strive to announce all closures caused by forest work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Roadbook
The start of the hike is at the second largest sacred building of the Palatinate, the Otterberg Abbey Church.
We walk northwards, through Kirchstraße, past the "Old Smithy Theis".
At the electrical store Profit we turn right into Hauptstraße up to the roundabout and reach the marker "Green-Yellow-Bar".
We follow this marker westwards into Bergstraße, Lauerhöfer Straße, Am Sonnenhang, Stone Cross to the Palatinate Forest Club Hut "Waldhaus Am Himmelreich" (observe opening hours!).
After a cozy break, we walk on the paved road, continuing on the marker "Green-Yellow-Bar" downhill to Otterbach.
Via Eckstraße we reach Otterstraße with the Motorcycle Museum in the church (observe opening hours!).
We turn left into Kapellenstraße and after about 150 m, past the Otterbach (bridge), turn left again onto the bike path (also marker "Jakobs Pilgerweg") towards Otterberg.
We cross the L 367, pass a small animal enclosure with exotic animals and reach the outskirts of Otterberg.
We turn left into Kapellenweg, right into Otterstraße and follow it to Bachstraße, turn left to the roundabout, right into Hauptstraße, back to the starting point at the church square at the Abbey Church in Otterberg.

For our hikes we recommend the following standard equipment:

- Sun and rain protection
- Sufficient supply of food and drinks as there are not always places to eat or shop available or open.
- Although the paths are very well marked throughout, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable
hiking map so that, for example, you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency.
- Hiking poles recommended.
