Along the Ortenau Wine Trail, there are two wine loops in Oberkirch that connect additional scenic and culinary highlights to the main path. Viewpoints, chapels, or wineries invite you to explore.
The route is signposted.
The legendary wine loop leads through the Weilerwald to the Waldparkplatz Nesselried, from where the ascent over the Illental begins and a beautiful panoramic view of forest and vineyards opens up. The hike continues through deep forests, past the natural monument "Kammeri Bettlad", to the Devil's Chapel with magnificent views over the Bottenau valley and the Rhine plain up to Strasbourg Cathedral. After the Münsterblick, the path leads to the St. Wendelin pilgrimage chapel and from there the descent into the Herztal begins.

The route starts at the Kronguthalle in Nußbach near the cemetery. You walk along Nesselrieder Straße to the playground and keep right towards the Weilerwald. Via Sulzmatt you reach the Waldparkplatz Nesselried. Now follows the ascent over the Illental with panoramic views of forest and vineyards. If desired, you can take a detour to Staufenberg Castle (about 1 km round trip). The path continues towards Hohrank. From Hohrank, you now go downhill along the Fuchslochhütte to the Rappenloch. Past forests and the natural monument Kammeri Bettlad, a rock block made of Oberkirch granite shaped like a chest. You continue uphill to Rohrbacher Eck and along the Rohrbacher Höhe to the Fichtenbuckel. The area around the Devil's Chapel offers a magnificent view over the Bottenau valley and the Rhine plain up to Strasbourg Cathedral. After the Devil's Chapel, the hiking trail turns left to the Münsterblick. Through a wooded area you reach the St. Wendelin pilgrimage chapel. Over vineyards, the descent follows into the Herztal, a side valley of Nußbach. Via the locations Erb and Gänsweid, you return to the starting point.
