The ridges of Heischberg and Höllenberg lie almost parallel to each other and are separated by the Rimbach valley. The route connects both ridges.

The abundance of different rock formations is unique on this hike and amazes nature lovers. Combined with the natural forest paths, the good feeling to be in an intact world is intensified. A superb rock hike! Do not miss admiring the overshot waterwheel of the Kaisermühle.

My question from 13.5.2019 was: "How do you assess this route?" After many years, it can be stated that the critical point lies in the transition between the two ridges, namely in the area of the mill and the Rimbach. It is best to use the GPX guidance!

Also recommended is the rock route "Lindelbrunn - From the ruins of Lindelbrunn to Dimbach with the rock landscapes Immersberg, Dimberg and Rötzenberg"

From Heischberg you can see the Trifels. The route "Leinsweiler - Slevogthof, Neukastell and Trifels. An adventure route to the Imperial Treasure!" leads you to the former imperial castle

    Roadbook

The route follows well-known hiking signs, such as those of the Geiersteine route and the Höllenberg route. In the area of the Kaisermühle, i.e., in the transition between Heischberg and Höllenberg, you should use an enlarged Outdooractive map or the GPX file for orientation. In part, local hiking signs will guide you there.

    1. First, follow the hiking signs of the Geiersteine route over the Hornstein, the Wernersberg Geierstein, the Heischberg, and the "Runden Hut".
    2. Those sure-footed can descend on a steep path past the "Runden Hut" down into the valley.
    3. However, after you have viewed the “Runden Hut" from above, you can return to the trail junction (branch "Runder Hut") and follow the signpost "Lug" to the right. After about 300 m, an inconspicuous, narrow path leads downhill into the slope forest from the forest road on the right. There you will also find hiking sign 36, which leads you down the mountain (see picture in the photo series).
    4. Attention! At the bottom, at the foot of the mountainside, turn sharply left and follow the wide forest road towards Kaisermühle (see map in the photo series!). There is no hiking sign on this short section. Here you leave hiking trail number 36 and should best orient yourself using the Outdooractive map. The approximately 400 m long path to the mill runs parallel to the forest edge at a distance, and on the other side of the Heischbach is the K1.
    5. At the Kaisermühle, located at the junction of the K1 with the K65, cross the road. From the road, hiking sign 30 now leads about 100 m in the direction of Sarnstall (downstream). Then you cross the Rimbach on a small, inconspicuous bridge and change the valley side.
    6. On the other side of the road and thus at the foot of the Höllenberg is the signage to Spirkelbach and the markings of hiking trail 30, which you follow.
    7. On the northwest side of the Höllenberg, below the Kleine Ferkelstein, you meet the Spirkelbach Höllenberg route, which you follow via the Kleine Ferkelstein, the Große Ferkelstein, the Klingel-Kopf, and the Friedrichsfels.
    8. From the Friedrichsfels, follow the "blue cross" back to Lug.

Shortcuts and hiking in sections are possible.
