Kleinerberg (1,287 m) and Wurbauerkogel (858 m) from Windischgarsten

We begin the hike at a parking lot just after Windischgarsten on the Hengstpass federal road (611 m). First a very short stretch along the federal road, then upwards on a narrow and quite steep asphalt road (Trojer farm road) to the Trojer farmstead (720 m).

Here, yellow signposts point up over the meadow, then continue on a nice, well-maintained trail upwards to the Mostheurigen Horner. Here, flat left over the meadow, then past a holiday home to an asphalt road and further to the panoramic tower on the Wurbauerkogel (858 m).

Return to the large road intersection at the Wurbauerkogel, briefly right and then upwards on the road leading to Haslers Gatter to the forest edge.

There a signpost marks the start of the so-called "Schafsteig" and on this trail, quite quickly upwards to the summit plateau at Kleinerberg (1,287 m) with a huge transmission tower. The highest point is not necessarily a sight for sore eyes, but a fantastic viewpoint in all four directions.

On the other side of the summit, descend on a forest road and, following it, reach the so-called "Haslers Gatter" (1,154 m). Now walk down the natural road leisurely towards the south until you reach the Mutling Chapel (approx. 945 m).

Now only a short 200 m towards Wurbauerkogel, then down the forest road branching left just before its end. There, a tractor track branches off on the right and over this, you reach a yellow house (near Jagdhaus Riepelsberg).

Now on the asphalt road to a junction and left down to the Hengstpass federal road. On this road, past the Schaftlmühle inn, turn right back to the starting point (or along the stream on the other side of the road, see GPX track).
