Karavanke Trail is a long-distance hiking route through the cross-border UNESCO Geopark Karavanke. Across 13 stages, it reveals the many faces of the Karavanke landscape – from mountain views, forests, meadows and valleys to traces of glaciers, rocks, iron and the stories of people who have shaped life along the border through the centuries. The trail is designed as a journey through the area’s natural, geological and cultural heritage, where scenic views, history, local identity and peaceful nature experiences come together.
In the Koroška section, the trail connects, among others, Mežica, Volinjak, Leše, Uršlja gora, Ravne na Koroškem, Dravograd and Košenjak. Along the way, hikers discover karst features, viewpoints, forest trails, cultural landmarks, the literary heritage of Prežihov Voranc and the wider Mežica and Drava valleys. Karavanke Trail is therefore ideal for hikers who wish to experience Koroška more slowly, more deeply and in direct contact with nature.
