This short route leads to a beautiful ridge on the Weimersberg with great viewpoints. At first, it goes somewhat monotonously through the forest on the Hülsenberg uphill. Along the way, we pass an idyllic Lourdes grotto. Upon reaching the shelter hut at Weimersborn, a beautiful ridge hike begins. First, we reach the Backelsteinblick viewpoint. It passes several rocks. After 3.5 km, a detour to the Backelstein is worthwhile. This is a nice viewpoint and the location of an early medieval refuge castle (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Backelstein). Then we visit the Kahler Felsen viewpoint with a beautiful view into the Stefanstal and finally reach the Kreuzfelsen with a nice view over Hauenstein. Types of paths: 50% natural paths / gravel paths, 50% trails Orientation: no continuous trail marker, but overall well signed. Those unfamiliar with the area need a map / navigation. Food options: none on the route, but several in Hauenstein.

A short extension of the route leads to the early medieval refuge castle Backelstein. Worthwhile…
