From the parking lot it immediately goes steeply uphill to the Lanzenfarther Rock, which can be climbed. A branch leads to the Early Medieval refuge castle “Burghalder,” of which not much is left to see. Past the PWV hut and some beautiful rocks, it goes to the highest point of the route at Wolfshorn. Then past the ancient border marker “Hasenteller” to the viewing rock Hühnerstein, from where you have a magnificent view. Return route via Hülsenberg, Soldatenkopf, and Weimersberg, where you pass some other nice viewpoints and a bit of ridge trail invites. Finally, you reach the Wachtfelsen with a nice view and summit cross.
Orientation: first Burghalderweg, from PWV hut follow the Cobbler's Path. The last 1.5 km without signs; only inexperienced hikers will need a map or GPS. Types of paths: 95% natural paths, of which 40% are trails, rest forest roads. Places to eat/drink: Dicke Eiche hiking home: https://www.pwv-hauenstein.de/home
