A gourmet hike! Delicious cheese at the dairy and a break at the brewery in Speiden at the end.
Enjoying cheese and beer specialties from the region is a must during your Allgäu vacation! Even better if you combine this with a short hike and thus additionally enjoy the diverse pre-Alpine landscape. At the Sennerei Lehern, nine dairy farmers deliver their fresh hay milk daily, which is processed into top-quality cheese. You can also take part in a guided tour and get a look behind the scenes. The Maria Hilf pilgrimage church in Speiden is also worth seeing.
This vitality route runs on about half of the distance on paved paths and roads.

Roadbook
You start at the village shop Hopfen am See heading west around the Hopfensee and follow the Hopfen lake circular route until you reach the junction towards Reinertshof. There, turn right first, then after a few meters again left towards "Reinertshof." You cross the motorway tunnel unnoticed and arrive at Reinertshof, where you keep left towards "Lehern." Passing through the hamlet of Hinterberg, you reach state road OAL 2, where the pedestrian and cycle path running parallel to the road on the right takes you directly to Lehern. To the right of the dairy, a small local connecting road leads to Wiedemen, which you follow for about 200 meters, and just before Wiedemen turn right towards "Speiden/Mariahilf." Here begins the signposted Cheese-Beer-Route (Allgäu beer-cheese hike). Follow the signs first on an asphalt road, later on a gravel path, until the hiking signposts turn left towards "Speiden/Mariahilf." You first walk over a meadow path before briefly following the tar road again on the right. Shortly afterwards, turn left towards "Speiden, Mariahilf" and follow a forest and meadow path that leads you to the Mariahilf path, which in turn takes you directly to Speiden. You walk once around the Mariahilf church to reach Mariahilfstraße heading north towards Eisenberg and the bus stop at Pröbstener Straße.

Public transport
From the long-distance train stations Ulm, Augsburg and Munich, you will find regular train connections to Füssen.
From the Füssen train and bus station, bus line 56 takes you to Hopfen am See to the stop "Hopfen, Uferstr./Bergstr.".
From Weißensee, you can reach the starting point by line 71 to Füssen (station), changing to line 56 to Hopfen am See at the stop "Hopfen, Uferstr./Bergstr.".
Returning from Eisenberg to Hopfen and Füssen can be done by bus line 56. Returning to Weißensee, line 56 (towards Pfronten) with change (stop "Pfr-Meilingen, roundabout") to line 71 to Weißensee.
Directions
You can reach Füssen directly via the A7 motorway as well as federal roads B310, B16 and B17. From Füssen, take the B310 towards Weißensee and follow the signs to Hopfen am See or leave Füssen northwards on the B16 and follow the signs to Hopfen am See.
Parking
Along the lakeside promenade in Hopfen am See as well as at the campsite at the eastern town entrance, paid parking spaces are available.
