Central Slovakia - Slovenská Ľupča Castle
The medieval Ľupča Castle was built in the mid-13th century on the ridge of one of the last outcrops of the Low Tatras. It was a guard castle that overlooked the important medieval trade route Via Magna, running under the castle’s foothills.
From the castle, there are beautiful views of the Low Tatras and also of Skalka in the Kremnica Mountains.
Author’s recommendation
Individual parts of the castle are gradually being repaired - it is possible that during your next visit you will see a bit more of this unique castle complex at the entrance to Horehronie. In the castle courtyard itself, there is the 700-year-old Corvin's lime tree.
