A trip to Mönichkirchen offers variety and activities for the whole family. There is sport and action in the Hamari Kraxlpark. The Water of Life theme trail and the water park with salaerium offer peace and relaxation. Those interested in culture can visit the Maria Namen church. Centrally located in the village, the church is the ideal starting point for a hike around the Kogel. The approximately 3-hour hike leads along beautiful paths and trails towards Heidstübl and through the peaceful forests to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig. Here, the Mönichkirchner Schwaig mountain inn invites you to linger with game specialties from the Wechsel region, traditional delicacies and homemade pastries on the panoramic terrace. Or you can stop off at the "Enzian" alpine inn right next door with its large adventure playground and new winter garden. Many paths lead back down to the valley. The more adventurous can venture down on the scooter and mountain cart track, but there are also many footpaths leading along the lift to the valley station and back to the starting point. It is also possible to hike down the themed water of life trail. The stage on the trail along the Wiener Alpenbogen - Arc of the Viennese Alps (trail) to the Feistritzsattel also starts from Mönichkirchen.

Preparation
Make sure when choosing your route that it corresponds to your experience and fitness. Inform yourself in advance about the weather forecast. Weather in the mountains can change unexpectedly fast. Therefore, always start out with appropriate equipment (e.g., rain protection).
Check whether the huts and snack stations you wish to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your chosen route and your planned return before you start.

Roadbook
We start at the church in Mönichkirchen, pass the elementary school, keep left and hike up the path. Our route is marked in yellow. At the junction, we turn right onto the hiking trail and then left onto the path, over a section of road and then right again onto the hiking trail towards Heidstübl. A mountain bike trail also runs along here. The path bends to the left. We follow the trail for 500 meters and then keep right. Always following the path, we reach an asphalt road leading us to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig. From here, there are several ways back to the valley; we follow the signs or take a scooter to the valley station. The marked route continues first on the yellow marking and then descends right on the green marked path.

Public transport
Take the train from Vienna via Wr. Neustadt to Aspang Markt. Then continue by bus to Mönichkirchen to the "Hotel Thier" stop.

Then walk to the valley station of Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen or to the town center (depending on the start of the route)

Directions
By car from Vienna via the A2, take the Edlitz exit to Wechsel Str./B54 towards Aspang and follow the B54 road to Mönichkirchen.
By car from Graz via the A2, take exit Knoten Graz-Ost, turn left into A2/E66 towards Vienna/Gleisdorf/Laßnitzhöhe/Hungary and continue on A2.
At exit 95-Pinggau, head towards Friedberg/B63, Haideggendorf, take the third exit at the roundabout onto B63, then right onto B54 and follow the road to Mönichkirchen.
