Route description:
The Nyakas loops start under the viaduct of Biatorbágy railway. The viaduct is Hungary’s only paired railway valley bridge and additionally reinforced in the 1940s with a rare engineering solution – a supplementary belt. In the outskirts of Biatorbágy, turn left after the football field, circle around Közép Hill, then turn left from a wider forest road into the hillside path leading to the Szily Chapel. After passing the chapel, turning right after a few hundred meters, a beautiful meadow and view open before your eyes over Biatorbágy and Lake Biai. From here, following the rocky edge of the Tétény-Sóskút plateau with stunning panorama, you reach Nyakas Stone, which decorates the route’s medals.
At Nyakas Stone, the two distances diverge: following the 25 km route, we cross Sóskút Road at the forester’s lodge, then continue alongside the Benta Stream reaching Lake Peca, which we circle on the right and then leave the built-up area heading south.
Our path heads toward Calvary Hill past smaller forested sections, then groves, and finally along meadows edged by pastures near horse stables. Though the hill is only about 173 meters high, it stands out distinctly from the surroundings, offering a unique view of Sóskút and the meadows just left behind. Descending from here, we arrive in Sóskút where we cross the Benta Stream, then take the uphill direction again on the other side of the main road.
The P marking here leads toward Biatorbágy along a pine-lined plateau beside the Sóskút Quarry, then enters the Biai Forest (markings are missing on this section). Inside the forest, before Dobogó Hill, the 13 km and 25 km routes meet again and continue together.
After leaving the hill, following a longer descent and abandoning an asphalt road, we turn left. A short forest section is followed by a tall overgrown meadow. Descending a short serpentine, we arrive at the steep climb leading to Hármas Rock, from where we reach the Kőorr on Kő Hill, crowning the route with a worthy panorama.
From the side of Kő Hill, after turning left, we descend and arrive back in Biatorbágy. Passing beside the Trianon memorial cross and under the viaduct, we finally finish our route facing the park on Alkotmány Street by Nikoletta Confectionery.
