Route description:
The 15 km Kamor Circle is the smaller sibling of the 34 km route but a significant difference is that it starts in the opposite direction, counterclockwise around the Balaton Uplands. Starting from the Balatonfüred railway station along the Z mark, it heads up the hill, passing the former Palóczi Horváth villa, now serving as a music school, then at the Red Church switches to the K mark, climbing the hill steeply to reach the Tamás Hill cross and the Jókai Lookout, where the first checkpoint is located.
The climb is steep but not too long and rewards persistent hikers and runners with a beautiful panorama. From the cross, the entire village below, and a large part of Lake Balaton can be seen, especially a beautiful view of the Tihany Peninsula, and from the Jókai Lookout, visibility can extend several hundred kilometers.
From the K mark, the route switches to K+ then to Z+, reaching a fresh, sunny meadow at the entrance of the Koloska Valley and leading upward through it. Along the P mark in the Koloska Valley, a brook flows until reaching the spring, where a small pond awaits. Here is the "White Willow" decorating the medals for finishers, which participated in the 2019 Tree of the Year contest. A bit further up is the heroic Koloska Linden tree, famous for its struggle to survive despite poor sunshine, growing into the rock and now proudly overlooking the formerly towering stones. The Koloska Valley also features an educational trail where hikers can learn about geological, biological, and sometimes historical sights.
Finally, the P mark exits the valley, and at the northernmost point of the route, at the location of the second checkpoint, it crosses the Z mark. Taking a sharp left, it heads back toward Balatonfüred. From here navigation is simple as the route follows the green mark back to the starting point, alternating between a wide paved road and hidden paths. The first part of the return journey goes through wooded areas, sometimes with smaller meadows, later passing countryside farmsteads, and finally, approaching the affluent panoramic villas. Upon reaching the Red Church, the route returns along the same path to the Peron Pizzeria & Pub where medals can be collected.
