Whether the Rhine, the old arms of the Rhine, bathing and gravel lakes, swimming pools, or ponds and lakes in the parks, water is valuable and an important component for the South Palatinate.
The South Palatinate is known for its old arms of the Rhine and lakes. Right at Wörth, you ride directly along the Rhine with views of the opposite port of Karlsruhe. It becomes quieter and more idyllic further south on the flat and even cycle route. The Rhine Cycle Route leads past meadows and fields, winds through floodplain forests until you reach Neuburg am Rhein. A detour is worthwhile here, as at Neuburg you can take a break at the idyllic old arms of the Rhine. You can also find informative panels about the native marsh turtle and may be lucky to spot a turtle or a swamp beaver (nutria). Then you follow the German-French PAMINA Lautertal Cycle Route along the Lauter River to Berg. Beyond Berg, the landscape changes again. Through the shady Bienwald forest, it goes to Hagenbach with its idyllic town center. On the cycle path along Wiebelsbach by the country road, you return to Wörth. In the town, the Bürgerpark with its pond and sculpture park invites you to a final break.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Be considerate – Always behave attentively, kindly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on your way. This is especially true on farm roads where winemakers, farmers, and foresters also work on weekends.
- Picnic & litter – Remember to bring a bag for litter and take waste back home. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Nature conservation – Stay on designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest by dusk at the latest to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.

Safety information
Cycling on farm roads – Our cycle routes often follow paths shared with others. We therefore ask for constant consideration and friendly behavior. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use the farm roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work – also on weekends. Due to work operations and/or weather conditions, the paths may sometimes be more heavily soiled. Extra caution is also required when riding through streets in and around Palatinate towns. Road closures and detours must be strictly observed.
Danger situations – In an emergency, quick help is needed. And although mobile phones can send GPS signals, the classic emergency points are often the fastest. These are located at places easily accessible for emergency vehicles. Remember the points marked with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when calling for help. This way, rescuers will know where to find you.
