To Elmau

The starting point for this moderate mountain biking route is the parking lot on Krottenkopfstraße in Krün. From here, follow the road always keeping to the left, following the signs towards the Maria Rast chapel. Continue on Hochstraße over the Buckel meadows to the "Quicken" junction on the right side. Ride straight ahead until you reach a railway crossing. Here, turn right onto a forest road towards Klais. From Klais, follow the signs towards Schloss Elmau over a toll road up to the height of "Kranzbach." Here, turn right onto a small forest path and continue until you reach Schloss Elmau. Just before Schloss Elmau, passing the hotel parking lot, turn left onto a forest road. Follow this road, always following the signs towards Ferchensee through the forest. At the lake, there are several bathing spots and a place to eat. Then continue on a short, partly very steep descending stretch to Lautersee, where you will also find some places to eat as well as bathing possibilities. Now follow a downhill path to Mittenwald. Upon entering the town, go straight over a railway crossing; at the junction, turn right into Isarauenstraße, which runs directly alongside the Isar River. Follow this road downstream, past a bridge, until the path splits at the second Isar bridge. Turn left here, cross the bridge, and continue along the Isar until you reach the barracks. From here, keep to the right, following the signs over the Isarhorn back to Krün.
