Sickinger Mühlenradweg
Requirement: medium to difficult due to the steep climb on the Sickinger Höhe.
Route overview:
- Ramstein-Miesenbach - Kindsbach 11 km (30 m ascent, 20 m descent): via flat paths through the eastern foothills of the "Westricher Moorniederung."
- Kindsbach - Weselberg 14.5 km (305 m ascent, 110 m descent): up to the Sickinger Höhe with approx. 140 m elevation over about 3 km on low-traffic forest roads, after this big effort another smaller one from Bann with 80 m ascent over 1.5 km length. Then very flat on the plateau to the south.
- Weselberg - Thaleischweiler-Fröschen 16.1 km (20 m ascent / 215 m descent): mostly downhill in the last third and very close to nature through the Schauertal, midway with the inn and playground center at Weihermühle.

Roadbook
The Sickinger Mühlenradweg starts in Miesenbach in "Neuwoogstraße." There is a direct connection there to the Barbarossa Cycle Route. The cycle path runs southwards along a lit pedestrian and cycle path away from main roads to Ramstein. Then it turns left into "August-Süßdorf-Straße" and continues straight to the stop sign at the bending priority road. Via "Bahnhofstraße," it goes straight past Ramstein station to the traffic lights. There the cycle path first turns left into "Miesenbacher Straße" and after crossing the railway tracks immediately turns right into "Flurstraße". The cycle path follows the winding course of the street to where it changes into "Reichswaldstraße." Turning right, it continues along the equestrian facility to the next intersection. There the Sickinger Mühlenradweg branches left onto the combined pedestrian and cycle path in "Kindsbacher Straße" and follows it to the start of a farm road. The partly paved, partly gravel farm road leads the cycle path through the typical moor landscape of the "Westricher Moorniederung" to the entrance of Sickingenstadt Landstuhl.
At the level of the McDonald’s, at the corner of "Am Koehlwäldchen" and "Merkurstraße," the City Route Landstuhl branches off from the main route of the Sickinger Mühlenradweg. The City Route continues straight on "Untere Eisenbahnstraße" and shortly before the railway line turns left onto a combined pedestrian and cycle path to the station. Continuing through the railway underpass, the route reaches "Bahnstraße." The route continues left for 50 meters on "Bahnstraße," then turns right into "Vordere Imser Straße" and goes straight on to the next cross street. There the cycle path turns left into "Wiesenstraße" and follows it for about 100 meters to "Gartenstraße." Turning right, it goes straight past the Landstuhl Town Hall to "Kaiserstraße." It turns left at the traffic lights onto "Ludwigstraße." The route continues straight past the "Old Chapel" and along the historic old town with "Villa Benzino" and the "Old Market." At the corner of "Ludwigstraße"/ "Hauptstraße" / "Weiherstraße," the route crosses "Hauptstraße" and continues straight into "Schloßstraße." After about 200 meters, the cycle path turns sharply left into "Burgweg." The route climbs steeply uphill to the landmark of Sickingenstadt Landstuhl, Burg Nanstein. The route goes a little further up "Burgweg" to "Melkerei," a district of Landstuhl. Along "Auf der Pick" and "Pont-à-Mousson-Ring," the route runs straight through the residential area to the edge of town. It then continues straight on a well-developed forest road to the level of the Kahlenberg forestry house, where the City Route meets the main route of the Sickinger Mühlenradweg again.
The main route of the Sickinger Mühlenradweg branches left at the level of the McDonald’s into "Merkurstraße" and follows it to "Daimlerstraße." Then it leads left over "Daimlerstraße" to "Am Harzofen" street. Continuing straight it passes the Silbersee lake to the entrance of Kindsbach. At the end of "Mühlstraße," the Sickinger Mühlenradweg turns right into "Eisenbahnstraße," goes under the railway line, and continues straight to the corner "Eisenbahnstraße / Hirtenpfad." There the route first turns left into "Hirtenpfad" and after about 200 meters right into "Marktstraße," following it to the traffic lights. Turning right, it goes to the next traffic lights across "Kaiserstraße." There the cycle path turns left into "Hörnchenstraße" and follows it to the fork in the farm road. The farm road leads uphill to the Kahlenberg forestry house, where the Sickinger Mühlenradweg meets the City Route again. Turning left, it goes over well-maintained, partly paved forest roads to the Bann community sports ground. It continues about 300 meters straight ahead on "Am Sportplatz" street, then turns left on a farm road to the entrance of Bann. Along "Waldstraße," the cycle path leads to the roundabout on "Hauptstraße." Turning left, it continues 200 meters along "Hauptstraße." At the intersection with "Goethestraße," it first turns right and then immediately left into "Schillerstraße." Following "Schillerstraße," the Sickinger Mühlenradweg climbs steeply to the Sickinger Höhe. Passing the green waste collection point, it turns left onto the K 60 and continues to the junction with K 61. There the Sickinger Mühlenradweg switches to the roadside cycle path along K 60 and follows it to the entrance of Weselberg.
In Weselberg, you follow the main street to the edge of town, where the cycle path resumes. It crosses L473 and goes under the A63 onto the farm road. Following the farm road down into the valley to Weihermühle, after a tasty stop at the country hotel or the Kleinen Mühle, it continues on the cycle path to L 475, which is crossed to reach the Mühlenweg. This now runs parallel to Wallhalb until Faustermühle. There the path goes under L477 into the town of Thaleischweiler-Fröschen.
