This route suggestion is a shortened version of the Rhine and Roman loop formerly known as the "Rhine loop for connoisseurs," suitable for families with children and also for cyclists who want to make a shorter ride.
The family route combines pleasure cycling and fun for children. On the flat and easy-to-ride route, parents can enjoy the landscape, regional products from farm shops, and Palatinate food in the restaurants. Children can either romp around before or after the route at the Alla-Hopp grounds or the beach pool or visit the petting zoo. Near Leimersheim, you can wander together in the maize labyrinth, and in Hördt enjoy an ice cream refreshment. Those who want to take a short boat trip can also use the car and bike ferry across the Rhine at Leimersheim.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Be considerate on the move - Always behave in a foresighted, friendly, and considerate manner towards everyone you meet on the way. This applies especially to farm roads where wine growers, farmers, and foresters also work on weekends.
- Picnic & rubbish - Remember a rubbish bag for the way and take waste home again. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Nature protection - Stay on designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest at the latest at dusk to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.

Interesting facts about the Romans can be learned during a visit to the Terra-Sigillata Museum. In Neupotz, you can admire a replica of a Roman ship or take a break at the restaurant at the anglers' home on the Old Rhine arm.

Safety information
Bike riding on farm roads - Our bike routes often run on paths shared with others. We therefore ask for always considerate and friendly behavior. Wine growers, farmers, and foresters use the farm roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work — even on weekends. Due to work operations and/or weather conditions, the paths can sometimes be more heavily soiled. Special caution is also required when crossing streets in and around Palatinate villages. Road closures and detours must be strictly observed.
Danger situations - If there is an emergency situation, quick help is needed. And even though mobile phones can send GPS signals, classic rescue points are often the fastest. These are located at spots easily accessible to emergency vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when calling for help. This way rescue workers will know where to find you.

From the Rülzheim leisure center, where the Alla-Hopp facility, the small animal zoo, and the beach pool are located, we ride towards the town center via the street "Alte Mühlgasse." We turn right into Mittlere Ortsstraße and then immediately right again into Hoppelgasse towards the cemetery. Behind the cemetery, we get on the bike path along the L 540. We follow this until Rheinzabern. At the entrance to the town, we turn right into the street "Neun Morgen," then left into Bahnhofstraße. Then we go left again into Hauptstraße and after a very short piece, turn right into Neupotzer Straße. Here we join the bike path "From Riesling to Zander (Logo fish with wine glass)," which we follow through Neupotz. In Neupotz, it is worth making a detour to the Old Rhine Lake to the anglers' home and to the boarding place of the Roman ship Lusoria Rhenana. We then continue to follow the bike path "From Riesling to Zander" until we reach the Rhine bike path (blue sign with a cyclist) behind Neupotz. We then ride on the Rhine bike path towards Germersheim. Shortly before the PWV lock house, we turn left onto the Klingbach bike path (green sign with a bell) through the Hördt Rhine meadows. We follow the Klingbach bike path through Hördt to Rülzheim. In Rülzheim, we leave the Klingbach bike path at Eisenbahnstraße, which leads into the street "Am Deutschordensplatz." At the end of the street, we turn right into Mittlere Ortsstraße. Then we turn left again into Alte Mühlgasse back to the leisure center, our starting point of the route.
