We start at the station and turn left onto Pfisterstraße, which runs parallel to the railway tracks. We cross them and immediately turn left onto Altsteußlinger Str. We keep slightly left and follow the street "Am Rammlinger" to its end. From there we continue cycling on a path that goes beyond Weiherstr. and then meets Büchelesweg. Here we turn right and immediately left onto a larger street, Albstraße, which we now follow for a long time.
We turn left towards Altsteußlingen, at the junction to Jungviehweide we stay further left towards Altsteußlingen. At a sharp right bend, we leave the street on the left onto a forest path. We come across sankt-Anna-Str., which we follow briefly to the left, then turn right into the forest at the next opportunity.
The path we now cycle leads us straight through the forest for quite a while. Later, we keep slightly left in the forest, i.e. towards the southeast, until we reach a street. We follow it a short way to the right and then diagonally right across Straße am Birkhau to Mundingen. On our way, we pass the "Alte Säge," which, besides the authentic sawmill with an intact sawing facility, offers many antique agricultural and craft machines and devices as well as six vintage tractors.
In Mundingen, we turn right onto Oberdorfer Str. through the village. We continue on this country road, which changes its name first to Granheimer Str. and then to Mundinger Str., until we reach Granheim. There is the interesting Feigel Fashion Museum, which takes us back to the fashionable past. The monthly changing exhibition revolves around "fashion and earlier clothing habits."
We then return to the point behind Mundingen where we left the forest on the way out. A few meters later, a path leads left along the forest edge. At the narrowest point between the two forest areas to our left and right, we enter the right forest area and follow forest paths southwards until we reach Mochental.
Here awaits the third museum on our route. From Classical Modernism to the present: the baroque castle presents one of the largest and most beautiful private galleries in Germany and invites you to visit. The exhibition also includes probably the world's unique broom museum.
Behind Mochental, we cycle left and follow the road to Schlechtenfeld. Shortly before the village entrance, however, we turn right, pass the forest section on the right, cross the B311, and reach Stetten. There we keep left and pass Käshof to Dettingen. From here, however, we do not cycle directly back to Ehingen but make a detour to Rißtissen.
Our next stage along the way is Berg. To get there, we keep right in Dettingen, cycle over the fields, and cross the B465. Upon arrival in Berg, we can visit the museum in the old Berg Brewery. Machines, devices, and items of the brewing craft dating back to 1756 provide deep insight into the proud tradition of brewing history in Berg.
We continue westwards over the fields to Griesingen. From there, we cycle on the L259, called Talstraße first and then Ehinger Straße, to Rißtissen. The Roman Museum is located in the village school. The quaint museum displays plans of the former Roman fort, finds from the fort and the Vicus Rißtissen, casts of Roman relief stones, and finds from the Alemannic period.
We cycle back to Griesingen, continue on L259 a bit further to almost Nasgenstadt. Just before the village entrance and before reaching the Danube, we turn left and cycle back over the fields to Berg. From Berg, we go on B465 into Ehingen. In downtown Ehingen, we turn right into Schwarze Gasse and then left into Hauptstraße. Before cycling along Hauptstraße, it's worth a detour straight into Spitalstraße, where a Franciscan monastery is located.
In the impressive cloister of the former Franciscan monastery, works by the Ehingen-born artist Franz Hermann Widmer (1871-1940) are exhibited. Selected works by Widmer can also be viewed in the "Virtual Museum Ehingen" (www.ehingen.de/virtuellesmuseum).
We continue on Hauptstraße. After a right turn, we are led left onto Lederbruckgasse and then right onto Tuchergasse to the Old Cattle Market. To the right, in Kasernengasse, we can finally visit the Museum of the City of Ehingen. The municipal museum provides vivid background knowledge and extensive insights into the city's history. In addition to valuable sacred and secular art, one can admire autographs and first editions of local dialect poets, an archaeological collection, as well as farmer's tools and old workshop equipment of former craftsmen. In the recently renovated former chapel, Gothic and Mannerist wall paintings as well as excellent examples of church sculpture can be seen.
Via the Hindenburgstraße parking lot, we turn left back to our starting point at the station.
