The Mauerweg is 160 km long in total. The route starts in the middle of Berlin at Potsdamer Platz. It goes southeast through the city center to Schönefeld. To the west, the path then leads along the former border strip to Potsdam. From here it continues via Spandau to the northern tip of Berlin at Frohnau. Via Pankow and Wedding you reach the city center area again. On probably the most interesting section, the path runs 18 kilometers right through the city – along the former division line of the city through Berlin's post-war history.
