Lavant cycle path R10
The Lavant Cycle Path (R 10) is the "main artery" of the cycle path network in the Lavanttal region, which invites you to enjoy a variety of cycle tours through an interesting Carinthian cultural landscape. It connects Reichenfels in the north with Lavamünd in the south.
ATTENTION - between Wiesenau and Frantschach-St. Gertraud, the Lavant cycle path runs along the main road for approx. 10 km - not recommended for families!
From the beginning of July to the end of August, you can use the Carinthian cycle bus service.
The Lavant Cycle Path is also the link between the Drau Cycle Path and the Mur Cycle Path.
A magnificent scenery with a historical character opens up along this route.
As the cycle path is mainly flat, it is particularly suitable for families.
(Except for the 10 km interruption between Wiesenau and Frantschach-St. Gertraud).
Away from the main road, you can roll along carefree on an asphalted cycle path, with the refreshing murmur of the Lavant at most reaching your ears on some green sections.
There are entry points and stop-off points in every village. It is advisable to take enough time to visit the surrounding villages and their highlights - such as
Schlossberg and Leonhardikirche in Bad St. Leonhard
Wolfsberg Castle, Museum im Lavanthaus and the small historic town of Wolfsberg
Basilica Maria Loreto, Gallery II and St. Andräer See leisure complex in St. Andrä. Andräer See in St. Andrä
Benediktinerstift St. Paul and Genussladen in St. Paul
Freizeitanlage und Laquamünd in Lavamünd
The cycle path can of course also be cycled in the opposite direction.

Roadbook
The cycle path starts in Reichenfels and leads to Bad St. Leonhard and from there on to Wiesenau. In Bad St. Leonhard, the Gomarn castle ruins on the Schlossberg and the Gothic Leonhardi church with its magnificent stained glass windows invite you to take a break from the tour.
From Wiesenau (south of Bad St. Leonhard) to Frantschach-St. Gertraud, the route follows the main road for around 10 km. From Frantschach-St. Gertraud, continue along the cycle path to Wolfsberg. Here it is worth visiting the historic old town, Wolfsberg Castle or the "Museum im Lavanthaus". The route continues along the Lavant to St. Andrä. The most attractive cycling station in the municipality of St. Andrä is the St. Andräer See leisure facility. The landscaped area with its biotope and mature trees is ideal for a walk around the lake or a dip in the cool water.
On the onward journey towards St. Paul, nature lovers should make a mandatory stop. Unspoiled nature and unique flora and fauna can be admired in the so-called "Mühldorfer Au", a former arm of the Lavant. In the municipality of St. Paul, a stop at the "Latobius Staircase" (Roman-Celtic staircase) lets your mind wander into the past. Valuable art treasures from different eras can be viewed in the Benedictine monastery of St. Paul, the "treasure house of Carinthia". In St. Georgen, the route continues along the right bank of the Lavant to the bridge to Unterrainz. From here you cycle along the left bank to Krottendorf. Following the natural course of the river, the cycle route is very varied on the last few kilometers to Lavamünd - broken up by several short climbs and descents. The brightly foaming waters of the wildly romantic Lavant in the Lavamünd area remind us why prehistoric valley dwellers once called this river "Albanta", i.e. "the shining white one".
A fossil rock uncovered during the construction of the cycle path provides revealing insights into the geological past of the lower Lavant Valley - geological traces of the primeval Lake Lavant. Since time immemorial, folk legends have been entwined around this area: two such legendary places are a river meander popularly known as "Moa-Höll" and the sealing stone rising steeply out of the water just before Lavamünd, which marks the narrowest part of the valley. Past the former "Mettinger-Mühle" mill, the R10 leads directly to the center of Lavamünd. From here there is a connection to the Drau cycle path (in the direction of Slovenia). In the direction of Völkermarkt, the Lavamünd natural bathing lake invites you to relax.
