Fairy Magic Route

Mahlberg – Rhine 15.0 km

• The start of the route is at Schmiedeweg in Mahlberg.
• It goes along the Kapuzinergraben heading west, over the tracks, then turn right, past the Mahlberg motorway service area towards Lahr-Kippenheimweiler.
• Into the village along the "Wylerter Hauptstraße", past the fire station into "Rebweg", then left along the edge of the village.
• Over the district road, then right and at the edge of Lahr Langenwinkel turn left, past the sports field.
• After the sports field, right, then next left, and at the bridge left again, along the stream.
• Up on the embankment and follow the Schutter relief canal to the Rhine.

Rhine – Rust 19.5 km (34.5 km)

• After the little wood, left, up to the road.
• Now follow the Rhine cycle route on the embankment south towards Rheinhausen.
• About 1.8 km after the ferry terminal to Rhinau, turn right into the Taubergießen nature reserve.
• Soon directly along the Rhine at km 30 turn left, through the forest to Rust.
• Over the new flood protection dike, then left and around Europa Park.
• Along the "Rheinweg" into the village, and on "Austraße" past the Europa Park entrance into the town center.

Rust – Mahlberg 19.5 km (54 km)

• After the bridge, left, next right and along "Ritterstraße" out of the village. Cross the motorway and head to Ringsheim.
• At the train stop, through the underpass, then right and follow the Rhine valley cycle path towards Herbolzheim. At the junction after the pumping station, turn left to Ettenheimweiler.
• Over the bridge over the B3, then uphill to the landfill and straight on at the right curve into "Erzstraße" (residents only).
• At km 42 half right to the vineyard and along its foot in the valley.
• Then up to the saddle and down the other side, past the ponds to Ettenheimweiler.
• In the village turn left onto "Dorfstraße" and follow it to Ettenheim.
• In Ettenheim, at the turning priority, straight ahead onto "Mühlenweg" into the baroque old town.
• Along "Friedrichstraße" through the town center and shortly before the bridge, turn left into "Im Bienle" street to Orschweier.
• At the T-junction after crossing the B3, turn right, to and along the L103.
• Just before the tracks, cross L103, then along the railway line back to Mahlberg.
