Bad Sooden-Allendorf
Over 33 km from castle to small castle in the Werra Valley: the "Castle Bike Route" connects a number of castles in the towns/villages between Eschwege and Wanfried.
The family-friendly circular route on both banks of the Werra is almost without inclines. It is therefore particularly suitable for families and does not require an e-bike.
Many of the buildings formerly called castles are stately residences, mostly in half-timbered architecture. Of the water castle in Aue, first mentioned in 1272, only a ruin remains after destruction in the Thirty Years' War, which today houses Hesse's smallest walk-in museum on 4 sqm.
Refreshment and shopping opportunities are available along the route.
