The Schönkahler is one of the easiest and most popular snowshoe and ski routes in the Allgäu Alps. The rather flat terrain is excellent for snowshoeing.
In cooperation with the Rechtler Association Pfronten as the landowner as well as the forestry authorities in Bavaria and Tyrol, the municipality of Pfronten, thanks to the coordination of the German Alpine Club (DAV), has created environmentally friendly routes for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers on the Schönkahler. The local DAV section takes care of the maintenance of the areas on a voluntary basis, and the routes are very well marked.
Please note: the route is partly not signposted! Recommended only for experienced snowshoe hikers.
