From Travemünde, the route heads south and inland. Lübeck is the defining cultural landmark - characterized by medieval architecture and Hanseatic history. Further west, the landscape opens up again and leads into the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. Here, tranquil forests, clear lakes and gently rolling hills dominate, forming a clear contrast to the open coastline. Around Ratzeburg in particular, the town's island location and the surrounding waters create a peaceful, almost secluded hiking experience. Finally, the stage leads along the Elbe for a while before ending in Geesthacht - a transition between river landscape, brick architecture and the North German lowlands.
Overall, this stage gives a varied impression: from maritime coastal light to historic Hanseatic towns and quiet lake and forest areas, it is much more diverse than the previous section, but remains moderate in profile and easy to walk.
