Warnemünde has been home to one of the most modern accessible beach accesses in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since 2014. Stairway No. 4 (near Teepott/Lighthouse) offers a closed service chain for mobility-impaired guests during the season. The Baltic Sea shore as well as the beach chairs are accessible via the walkway with non-slip slabs. At the beach chair rental it is also possible to rent an accessible beach chair, a bathing wheelchair, which allows bathing in the Baltic Sea with the help of an attendant. An accessible toilet and parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity of the beach access. Official assistance dogs are also allowed on the beach accesses marked accessible. The use of the beach is free of charge in the Rostock seaside resorts.
The accessible beach access 4 in Warnemünde has the following to offer:
- Condition: closed path up to the beach chairs over non-slip surface (WPC, wooden boards and rubber mats).
- Beach chairs: one accessible beach chair is available, direct accessible pathway to the beach chairs, bathing wheelchair rental available at the beach chair rental
- Clothing: textile
- WC for people with disabilities: in the season (May-Sep, daily 10:00-18:00) directly at the beach entrance
- Parking for people with disabilities: two parking spaces, about 22 m away (height Seestraße 9)
- beach supply: yes
Accessibility/Approach: from Bad Doberan via the L12 highway in the direction of Warnemünde, from the A20 via the highway feeder road to Warnemünde
Water rescue: The beach sections 1 to 24 in Warnemünde are guarded by the lifeguards of the DRK Wasserwacht during the season from May 15 to September 15. Several lifeguards work here on a voluntary basis and ensure the safety of bathers.
