Ilijino Brdo from/to Kumbor
A simple coastal mountain hike that mostly runs through forest but still offers spectacular views.
The special attraction of this hike is that you step out from the dense forest at several points onto a pronounced "viewing balcony," each offering a clear view of the Bay of Tivat and the entire region around Herceg Novi.
Author’s recommendation
If you want to shorten this route and do without a GPS device and track, you can reverse it, start at the cemetery, and follow the markings on the descent.

Roadbook
Next to the apartment complex "Riviera" in Kumbor, a side street branches off, which you follow uphill in switchbacks until, in a right bend, a gravel path branches off horizontally to the left. At the end of this path, just before a fence, a footpath begins on the left that leads slightly downhill and is heavily overgrown. You follow it until a steep, eroded trail leads up to the terraces on the right (use GPS and track!). Off-path, you climb through an olive grove until a green ramp leads out to the right. Under power lines, you reach a fence above a farmstead, where an old route continues uphill to the left. In a right curve, you pass a water reservoir and shortly after the access road to a building on the upper right. Right next to it begins a footpath leading uphill into dense bushes. At a fork at the top of a fence, keep to the right where an old footpath appears after a few meters, leading uphill to the left and into the macchia. Through dense forest, you continue uphill until the path flattens and reaches a crossroads in the forest. Here, continue diagonally to the left (not straight ahead). In a right bend, you reach open terrain where the ascent becomes a bit steeper. Further up, the path leads into an old gravel track, which first continues gently uphill, later becomes flat and turns right, reaching open ground with a very beautiful view of the Bay of Tivat. Here, a footpath sharply turns left into the forest, which you follow. Through dense deciduous forest, you continue uphill along red markings. The path transitions into a grass-covered track and reaches a junction to the right, where you will later descend. Straight ahead it goes flat and finally slightly downhill to some benches at Ilijino Brdo. Unfortunately, this place next to an old cemetery in the forest is very littered, but still offers a wonderful view.
For the descent, return to the fork and turn left there. A well-defined trail initially makes a left bend and leads diagonally downhill before reaching a natural rock viewpoint. From there, stone markers and red signs point down to the right. After a short traverse, the path descends over a rocky step in cleverly laid switchbacks, then enters sparse macchia and continues steeply downhill (red markings). Finally, the trail flattens, bends right and later slightly left again to reach the chapel Sveti Stepan. Slightly below the chapel, turn sharply right onto a stone path (red markings). Soon you will be on a beautiful forest path, which you now follow on a long traverse. At a fork, turn right and continue flat. The well-maintained forest path is interrupted by several rock passages, which again offer nice views. After a short ascent, you reach a fork where you keep left and go downhill. Eventually, the path ends in a dirt track, which you follow to the right. The track becomes a road and reaches a cemetery. Here you turn right and ascend slightly to avoid the main road. Over a ridge, you reach the ascent route and then follow it left downhill to the starting point.
