Hegyes-kő (311 m) rises high over its environment. Limestone cliffs make leaning terraces and provide a stunning 360 degree view.
As it is observable from Hegyes-kő, Gerecse is made up by separate fault blocks with basins in between and low hills. Looking to the west you can spot Nagy-Gerecse with a tower, the cliff of Pes-kő, the forested top of Halyagos, or even Somlyó with Vértes in the background. In the south, you can see low hills stretching towards the basin of Zsámbék. The landscape is the most exciting looking to the east and northeast with Pilis partly obstructed by Nagy-Gete, the robust Börzsöny and Helimbai-hegység with the cathedral of Esztergom and the Danube in the foreground.
Right next to the hill lies the village of Tokod. Esztergom and Nyergesújfalu also complement the view nearby. As coal mining during Socialism generated industrial investments in the area many of those building rise high in and around surrounding settlements. This is true for Párkány on the other side of the Danube, too with vineyards on Bátorkeszi-hát and Selmeci-hegység in the background.
