Ascent:
From the Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus northwards on path no. 534 up a steep slope (initially blockwork) in switchbacks. From 2400 m generally more eastwards over beautiful terraces with embedded tarns up to below a striking rock band and keeping left to the junction for the Säuleck via ferrata, 2620 m, signpost. Then southeast under a rock zone higher and around it at 2760 m to the confluence of path no. 533a from the Mallnitzer Scharte. Then north through a hollow (possibly old snowfields), then upwards through coarse blockwork. Just under 3000 m past the junction to the Detmolder path. Finally left to the highest point and shortly slightly downhill to the cross.
Descent:
Back to the confluence of path no. 533a from the Mallnitzer Scharte at about 2800 m. Further descent like the ascent or further south below the Mallnitzer Scharte and westwards on path no. 533 through a hollow (possibly old snow). Down the geologically very interesting block glacier, always with a view of the Dösener See and the Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus. Finally along the lakeshore back to the hut.
