Ascent to the Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus from Mallnitz station

By train to Mallnitz-Obervellach station.

At the station, follow the tracks across the car park southwards and turn left at the first opportunity. Go under the railway, continue through a left curve until the junction with the red marked hiking trail no. 510, which ascends to the right to the beautifully located Eggerhof, 1375 m. Then continue flat on the access road and soon gently ascending at a fork to the hiking car park of the Arthur-von-Schmid-Haus. After the barrier, over a bridge and along the left bank of the Dösenbach to the Dösner Alm (also called Eggeralm). Continue on the track to the atmospheric Konradlacke. Then take the well laid forest path higher, once very close to the rushing brook, and out onto a meadow with the Dösner huts. In the now open terrain, comfortably downhill to a wide flat area, right over the brook, over a rocky scree slope higher, back to the rushing brook and shortly to the hut on the shore of the Dösner See. 4 hours.
