Az Országos Kéktúra által érintett Vércverés irtásfoltja felső végéből szép kilátás nyílik a Mátra központi és keleti része, illetve észak felé.

A környezetéből markánsan kiemelkedő Mátra főgerincén állva semmi nem akadályozza a kilátást: tiszta időben a tőlünk 140 kilométerre elterülő Magas-Tátra hófödte csúcsai is feltűnhetnek. A Medves–Vajdavár-vidék szinte végtelennek tűnő hullámzásából a Bükk tömbje emelkedik ki, egyébként zavartalan a panoráma. Kelet felé a Kékes csúcsa és adótornya látszik, tőle jobbra a Csór-hegy és a Görgő-bikk, balra pedig a Sirok felé ereszkedő gerinc vehető ki.

A legenda szerint a kilátást a lúdvérc nevű lidércek is kihasználták, amikor a falubelieket szemmel tartották. Néha le is jártak közéjük megnehezíteni kicsit a mindennapjaikat, ám a nép imája végül meghallgatásra talált, és Szűz Mária alászállva elzavarta a gonoszt – azóta nevezik e helyet Vércverésnek.
