Igazi különlegesség a lőtéren álló, megfigyelőtoronyból átalakított kilátó.
A kőből épült torony a Tési-fennsík Várpalotához közel eső lábánál található, maga az építmény 10 és fél méter magas. Az egykori katonai megfigyelőtorony már évek óta kihasználatlanul állt, amikor a VERGA Zrt. (Veszprémi Erdőgazdaság) 2013-ban felújította, és kilátóként megnyitotta. Az épület mellett asztalt és padokat is találunk.
Az erkélyes lakótoronyra emlékeztető kilátószintről az alattunk elterülő lőtérre, Várpalotára és a Keleti-Bakony előtt hullámzó, dimbes-dombos, árvalányhajas vidékre pillanthatunk rá. A panoráma vegyes: éppúgy részét képezik az inotai hőerőmű kéményei, mint a Sárrét lápokkal váltakozó sztyepprétjei.
A kémlelőtornyot az erdélyi német származású magyar vadászati szakíróról nevezték el. A mérnök végzettségű Maderspach harcolt az I. világháborúban, majd a Rongyos Gárda tagjaként részt vett a nyugat-magyarországi felkelésben is, a nagy jelentőségű második ágfalvi összecsapás egyik parancsnoka volt 1921-ben. Egy ideig Székesfehérvár környékén élt.
A kilátót aktív katonai lőtér veszi körül, ezért indulás előtt érdemes tájékozódni a lőtér használatát illetően.

- A legközelebbi buszmegálló Várpalota Ady lakótelepi részén van, Várpalota, Tési út a megálló neve.
Ha tömegközlekedéssel érkezünk, készüljünk rá, hogy a főút mentén kell sokat gyalogolni a kilátóig.

- A buszmegállóból északi irányba indulunk a Tési utcán, majd 1,5 km után a jobbra kiágazó, jelzés nélküli földúton sétálunk a kilátóig (összesen 2,6 km).
- Az autótól a jelzés nélküli földúton kb. 1 km-t kell sétálni a kilátóig.
A tájékozódáshoz érdemes a Természetjáró appot használni.
Parking
- A Várpalota és Tés közötti 8213-as műút keleti oldalán, ahol jobbra leágazik egy földút, ott érdemes leparkolni az autót.
