A Palotai-Bakony kietlen, sziklagyepes letörései és tömött erdőségei találkoznak a Vár-berek kilátópontján, ahonnan egymás mögött sorakozó hegyeket csodálhatunk meg némi balatoni panorámával együtt.
Ritka látvány a Bakonyban a sűrűn hullámzó hegyvidéki táj, a Vár-berek letörésében viszont éppen ez a megragadó: szorosan egymáshoz simuló hegyhátak sorakoznak a látóterünkben, dél felé pedig (kellően tiszta időben) a Balaton-felvidék erdős hullámai mögött a Balaton tükre kéklik.
A Vár-berek, akárcsak az alant délre forduló Vár-völgy, a lent romosodó, romantikus fekvésű várromról, Bátorkő sasfészkének maradványairól kapta a nevét.
A kilátópontról a jelzetlen gerincösvényt követve (több kilátópont láncolatán át) leereszkedhetünk a Vár-völgybe is, míg a közeli P+ jelzésen a várrom vagy ellenkező irányban Várpalota, illetve Tés felé indulhatunk.
