Karos határában az 1930-as években a a Kárpát-medence leggazdagabb honfoglalás kori temetőjét, vezérsírjait tárták fel, ami arra utal, hogy a korabeli magyarság első fejedelmi központja állhatott a területen. Az emlékhely a honfoglalás korát mutatja be hitelesen, a mai kor interaktív eszközeit is felhasználva.
A kiállítóteremnek helyet adó épület alakja is meghatározó. A honfoglaló magyarok által használt visszacsapó íj formáját jeleníti meg, a közepén nyíltartó tegezzel. Teraszáról a Zempléni-hegységre és az alatta elterülő tájra nyíló csodálatos panorámában gyönyörködhetünk. Az épület két szintjén látható kiállításon a 9-10. század korszakát mutatják be a látogatók számára a sztyeppéktől a Vereckei-hágón való átkelésen át a letelepedésig és az ország megalapításáig. Mindezt egy akkor élt előkelőség életútján keresztül kísérhetjük végig, születésétől a Karoson történt temetéséig.
A látogatóközpontban napjaink modern technikáival (érintőképernyős alkalmazások, interaktív eszközök, animációk, filmek és hanghatások) hozzák közelebb hozzánk a történelmet, az akkor élt emberek mindennapjait és tárgyi kultúráját.

A kiállítás megtekintése után érdemes ellátogatni a település határában álló történelmi emlékhelyhez, az alig 5 kilométerre található karcsai Árpád-kori templomhoz, vagy a kb. 15 kilométerre lévő kisrozvágyi régészeti parkba, ahol egy honfoglalás kori skanzent (jurtasátrak, veremházak, föld- vagy kőalapú faházak, paticsházak) láthatunk.

Public transport
- Sátoraljaújhely vasútállomásától induló buszokkal Karos, autóbusz-váróterem megállóig kell utaznunk. A menetidő kb. fél óra.
- Sárospatak vasútállomásától induló buszokkal 40 perc alatt juthatunk Karosra, az autóbusz-váróterem megállóig.

- A megállótól kissé visszább indul egy út befelé, ez a Dózsa György út. Ezt kell követnünk a látogatóközpontig. Kb. 900 méter gyalog.
Parking
- A bejárat előtt kiépített parkoló várja az autóval érkezőket.
