Breathtaking views from above!
In the midst of the current community protection area of Mörbisch, in the lake meadows between reed belts and agricultural or vineyard areas, you will find the Mörbisch lookout tower. Previously, there was a lookout tower of the Austrian Armed Forces at this location. A few years ago, it was dismantled and a new, modern observation platform was built. Until 1989, the "Iron Curtain" represented an insurmountable border - the observation tower is considered a cornerstone of this border.
What awaits you: a cozy seating area, limitless views over Lake Neusiedl, the reed belt, the nearby Hungarian village of Fertörákos, the lakeside area, vineyards, and the community of Mörbisch. The observation platform is easiest to reach from the parking lot at the Mörbisch/Fertörákos border crossing; from there, follow the path in the direction of Lake Neusiedl straight ahead.
Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere with a filled picnic basket from the Mörbisch tourism office.
