Hazánk egyik legszebb zsinagógája Mád központjában található, kiváló állapotban van, és nyitott a látogatók előtt. Az egykori borkereskedelemben érdekelt, jelentős méretű zsidó közösség a református templom szomszédságában, a 18. század végén emelt belül rendkívül díszes, barokk és copf stílusú imaházat.
Mád egyik ékessége és méltán híres nevezetessége az ezredfordulón felújított zsinagóga, ami a faluközponttól északnyugatra, a Birsalmás-tető keleti oldalában található, és mind a Táncsics utca, mind a Rákóczi utca felől elérhető. A tóraolvasó körül négy központi oszloppal alátámasztott, boltíves mennyezetű épület 1795-ben épült, belső díszítése, festése és faragványai méltósággal hirdették a hegyaljai bor által biztosított gazdagságot.
Az egykor jelentős kisebbséget alkotó, borkereskedő zsidóság a világháborús deportálások során szinte teljesen eltűnt, de aki túlélte a háború borzalmait, az is máshova költözött. A funkció nélkül maradt, elhagyatott épület erősen leromlott, oromfala beomlott és csak az 1970-es évek állagmegóvásának köszönhetően nem dőlt össze. Az egykor városi rangot élvező község romosodó épületét a 2000-es években újították fel részben az amerikai zsidóság támogatásával, az eredeti díszítést alapul véve.
Ennek köszönhetően ma eredeti pompájában tekinthetjük meg a rendkívül díszes és otthonos imaházat, amit kilencosztatú kialakítás, diszkrét színvilág, de gazdagon díszített mennyezet jellemez. A feliratok szinte mindegyike héber betűvel íródott, csak a holokauszt áldozatainak márvány névtábláján olvashatók latin betűk a főterem bejárata melletti falon.
A rabbiház a zsinagógánál lejjebb található, itt vehetjük meg a belépőjegyet a zsinagógába, de a rabbi egykori lakhelye is megtekinthető.

- A vasútállomásról a Vasút utcán indulunk el, majd a második keresztutcán, a Bányász utcán balra, illetve annak folytatásában a Táncsics utcán érkezünk a Mádi zsinagógához (1,3 km, 20 m szintemelkedés).
- Az autóbusz-fordulóból induljunk el dél (a vasútállomás) felé a Rákóczi utcán, és pár percnyire jobbra, a parkoló mögött találjuk a Zsinagógát (300 m, szintemelkedés nélkül).
Parking
- Parkolni a Rákóci utca 71. szám mellett nyíló parkolóban, az általános iskola és a Rabbiház fogadó között érdemes.
