The Buralpkopf is the only peak of the eastern Nagelfluhkette that does not have a summit cross. 

Der dritthöchste Berg der Nagelfluhkette in den Allgäuer Alpen ist der 1772 m hohe Buralpkopf. Zusammen mit dem Gündleskopf bildet der Berg ein kleines Massiv, das von zwei tiefen Scharten begrenzt wird: westlich von der Gündlesscharte und östlich von der Scharte zum Sederer.

Innerhalb der Nagelfluhkette sind der Buralpkopf und der Gündleskopf die beiden entlegensten Ziele, da sie am weitesten von Bergbahnen und Orten im Tal entfernt liegen. Dennoch ist die Besteigung des Buralpkopf sommers wie winters beliebt. Ob im Sommer mit Wanderschuhen oder im Winter auf Schneeschuhen oder Tourenski: Eine Tour auf den Buralkopf bietet bei schönem Wetter einen herrlichen Ausblick über die Nagelfluhkette und das Allgäu. Der schnellste Zustieg erfolgt über das Aubachtal ab Gunzesried.

An den Hängen des Buralpkopfes wird – wie auch an den Hängen aller Berge der Nagelfluhkette – sommerliche Alpwirtschaft betrieben. Am Südhang befinden sich die Wieslealpen, am Nordhang steht auf 1297 m Höhe die Buralpe. Wer wurde hier wohl nach wem benannt? Der Berg nach der Alpe oder die Alpe nach dem Berg?

Mit dem Zug bis Blaichach und weiter mit dem Bus zur Gunzesrieder Säge

Directions

Auf der A7 bis zum Dreieck Allgäu und weiter über die A980 in Richtung Kempten. Ausfahrt Waltenhofen nehmen und weiter auf der B19 nach Süden in Richtung Immenstadt/Sonthofen/Oberstdorf. Auf B19 Ausfahrt in Richtung Reutte/Tirol/Hindelang/Sonthofen-Nord nehmen und der Illerstraße und OA27 nach Blaichach folgen. In Blaichach links abbiegen auf die talstraße bis Gunzesried.
