A Bükk egyik legbővizűbb forrása fakad a Forrás-völgy alsó szegletében, mely vizének nagy része a lakossági ivóvízellátást szolgálja. A forráskifolyást az út melletti tisztásra vezették, ahol pad, asztal és tűzrakó áll a Forrás-völgy szurdokának bejáratánál.
A Király-kútnál a Kis-fennsíkon beszivárgó és a mélyben mozgó karsztvíz lép a felszínre a tektonikusan elhasadt mészkőtömb peremén. A kútház és védőterülete a sűrű bozótban, a hegy pereménél található, ahonnan a beton forráskivezetéshez állandó alacsony hozammal továbbítják a vizet. A Forrás-völgy tekintélyes hozamú karsztvíz fakadása így – a Felső-forráshoz hasonlóan – a „civilizáció igájában”; föld alatti vezetéken távozik a völgyből, így az év nagy részében a patakmeder száraz a forrás alatt. Ennek következményeként kipusztult a patakból a tiszai ingola, egy igen ritka halfajtánk.
A Király-kút mellett évszázados, mára már megtépázott és kiszáradt bükkfákkal szegélyezett kis rét fogad, ahol piknikezőhelyet alakítottak ki. A tisztáson túl kezdődik a Forrás-völgy alsó szurdoka, ahol látványos karsztjelenségekkel találkozunk, így a Kecskelyuk és a Büdös-pest forrásbarlangja is közeli túracélpont a forrástól. A forrás közelében lévő farakodó rét alatt a gyógyszergyár terpeszkedik a Csanyik-völgy torkolatánál. A középkorban a Csanyik nevű falu állt itt, amiről a völgyet is elnevezték, lakossága a diósgyőri pálos szerzeteseket szolgálta.

- A forráshoz legközelebb a Csanyik-völgy (vagy a nap folyamán néhány alkalommal az Injekcióüzem) buszmegállóba érkezhetünk helyi és távolsági buszjáratokkal.

- A Csanyik-völgy megállóhelytől a P+ jelzés vezet fel a Király-kúthoz (1,3 km, 33 m szintemelkedés).
- A mahócai kisvasúti sín mellett indulva az Injekcióüzem mögött a Szív kör P tanösvény jelzésébe kapcsolódhatunk, ami a forráshoz vezet (1,2 km, 30 m szintemelkedés).
