Ruine Michelsburg, Haschbach
The Remigiusberg between Altenglan and Theisbergstegen with its Michelsburg castle ruins and church is the focal point of the Glan Valley landscape.
Separated by a mountain cut, the ruins of Michelsburg Castle rise on Remigiusberg to the east opposite the church. Its origins are closely linked to the construction of the monastery: the monks bought the castle, which had once been built illegally, and used the stones as building material for their own purposes. The Counts of Veldenz later rebuilt the castle. The 20m high shield wall, remains of the former palas, the curtain wall and the moat have been preserved.
