Bernecebaráti közelében, megkapóan nyugalmas, árnyas ligeterdőben rejtőzik a Csitár-kereszt, amely mellett pihenőhelyet is kialakítottak.
A Börzsönyi Kéktúra nyomvonalán, Bernecebaráti fölött, az Új-hegy ellaposodó hátán találjuk a néhai Csitár településnek emléket állító keresztet. A 300-350 m magasságban hullámzó börzsönyi „szoknyán” áthaladó K jelzésű turistaút ezen a környéken hosszan vezet vágásfoltok között, a mezők után pedig jól esik betérni a Csitár-kereszt körüli árnyas miliőbe, ahol két hatalmas fa között áll maga a kereszt. A kereszt mellett két félkörívben padokat és asztalokat helyeztek el, ezek használatát azonban nem feltétlen ajénljuk, mivel igen rozogák. A tölgyesben álló pihenőhely így is remek helyszín egy szusszanásra, ráadásul a Börzsönyi Kéktúra ellenőrzőkódját is itt szögelték ki egy fapóznára.
A kereszt a néhai középkori faluról, Csitárról kaphatta a nevét, amely a Csitár-patak mentén feküdt, és több, csodába illő gyógyulás is köthető hozzá. A helyszínen ma egy három forrás összefolyásánál emelt kutat és kápolnát találunk, amely népszerű zarándokhely – a Csitári-kápolnát Kutyika néven is ismerik.

- A Hont, Ipoly utca 98. buszmegállóból is elindulhatunk.

- A Bernecebaráti, Bem utca buszmegállóból a K+ jelzésű turistaúton induljunk el, majd a kereszteződésben forduljunk balra a K jelzésű turistaútra (3,6 km, 178 m szintemelkedés).
- A Hont, Ipoly utca 98. buszmegállóból a Z jelzésű turistaúton induljunk déli irányba, majd forduljunk jobbra a K jelzésű turistaútra (6,2 km, 306 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Bernecebaráti főutcáján, a Széchenyi út mentén tudunk parkolni.
- Hont határában a 2-es számú főút mentén egy nagyobb parkolót használhatunk, amely mellett elhalad a Z jelzésű turistaút is.
