A Tótok útját Bernecebarátival összekötő (S+ jelzésű) turistaút mentén egy kanász emlékére emelt fakereszt áll az erdőben.

Az incidensről ma már keveset tudunk, de az biztos, hogy egy tragikus halált halt kanász emlékére emelték a fából készült keresztet a Bernecebarátihoz közeli Ozmotring közelében. A leírások szerint az itt állatait legeltető juhászt egy vadkan sebezte halálra valamikor a 19. században.

A fakeresztet a Tótok útját (vagy másik nevén a börzsönyi sárgát) Bernecebarátival összekötő S+ jelzésű turistaút mentén találjuk a Varjas pihenőtől északra, 670 m-re. A sűrű, csöndes, sötét gyertyános-tölgyes erdőben baktatva akár el is sétálhatunk a kereszt mellett, az ugyanis diszkréten beleolvad környezetébe, hiába csak pár méterre van a turistaúttól. Az Ozmotring másik oldalán, 1 kilométerre északra egy katonai sírhelyet is találunk, amely tovább erősíti a környék eldugott hangulatát.

  • A Bernecebaráti, Bem utca buszmegállóból a K+ jelzésű turistaúton induljunk el, majd annak egyenes folytatásán, a S+ jelzésű úton haladjunk tovább, ez egészen a Kanász-keresztig vezet (6 km, 296 m szintemelkedés).
  • A kemence-völgyi Erdész-emlékműtől a S, majd a S+ jelzésű úton jutunk el a kereszthez (4,6 km, 245 m szintemelkedés).

Parking

  • Bernecebaráti főutcáján, a Széchenyi úton találunk parkolóhelyeket.
  • A Kemence-patak völgyében az Erdész emlékműnél is leparkolhatunk.
