Greißlermuseum

For over 300 years, the building in Thörl-Maglern has been a commercial property. In the rooms of the current museum, various products were sold until 1989. You step into the past and learn how and what people bought in this shop during the time of Maria Theresa. Today, the museum is run by the "Association of Friends of the Greißlermuseum."

The Greißlermuseum combines tradition with traditional craftsmanship. Directly in the museum building, you will find the tailoring workshop of Diana Erat. For over 40 years, she has been researching and working with the Gailtal traditional dress. The Untergailtal festive attire was included in 2018 by the Austrian UNESCO Commission in the national register of intangible cultural heritage.

Experience its splendor and beauty in the exhibition "BiLD-SCHöN - "The Gailtal Women" by the painter Franz Wiegele.

As a dedication to his Gailtal homeland, the painter Franz Wiegele created the costume painting "The Gailtal Women" from 1936 to 1938. This year, the work of Franz Wiegele is the focus of the Greißlermuseum, thus creating a connection to the "Nötscher Circle."
