Scherg Lőrinc 1938-ban hunyt el, feleségével közös sírja a Farkas-erdőben, a Kéktúra útvonalán található. Scherg saját kívánsága volt, hogy ne a sárvári temetőben, hanem a Farkas-erdőben temessék el. A sírfeliratot is ő fogalmazta meg:
„Bajor tölgyek tövén,, Spessartban volt hazám,
Majna-mosta Lohrban ringatott jó anyám,
De több mint fél-század: magyar lett új honom,
S magam ültette tölgy borul síromon.”
Cserjésből erdő
A 19. század végére az üveggyártáshoz szükséges, hatalmas mennyiségű fát eltüzelő hamuzsírfőzés és a legeltetés hatására az erdő lényegében eltűnt, ebben az állapotában került a terület 1875-ben a bajor királyi hercegi családhoz. A Bajorországban elterjedt, modern erdőkezelési technikák használata érdekében bajor erdészeket hozattak a Farkas-erdőbe, köztük Scherg Lőrincet, aki ismét zárt rengeteggé alakította az elhasznált területet.

- A gércei buszmegállóból induljunk a falu központja felé a Kossuth Lajos utcán, majd forduljunk balra a Kéktúra K jelzésén. Ez vezet a síremlékhez (2,9 km, 41 m szintemelkedés).

- A Farkas-erdő bejáratánál, a Rózsáskerti erdészház közelében lehet parkolni.
