Vértessomló közelében magasodik a Somló-hegyi kilátó, melynek legfelső szintjéről körpanorámát élvezhetünk a vértesi és gerecsei tájra, illetve a Kisalföld keleti részére.
A 329 méteres Nagy-Somló hegy a hasonló nevű település mellett magasodik. Tetején csak távolról kiszúrható, visszafogott kilátó áll, mely szerencsére így is a lombkoronaszint fölé nyúlik, ezért kiváló körpanorámát nyújt. Belsejében fémlétrák vezetnek föl a legfölső szintre.
Körbetekintve a Vértest és Gerecsét elválasztó árok környékétől mindkét hegység csúcsain keresztül a Kisalföld peremvidékéig láthatunk el. Keleten Tatabánya hegyei látszanak, távcsővel és szabad szemmel egyaránt felismerhető a Szelim-barlang és a Turul, valamint a közeli gerecsei bányák. Alsógalla hátterében a Somlyót is felismerhetjük, de távolabbi rögök is feltűnnek. A látkép nagy részét a Vértes pereme tölti ki, beljebb megmutatkozik a Körtvélyes geodéziai tornya, de a gesztesi várat is kiszúrhatjuk. Nyugaton Oroszlány terpeszkedik, és a majki kolostor tornya is kilóg a fák közül, illetve a bányászmúzeum sincs rejtve a szemünk elől. Észak felé a Kisalföld Dunát követő síkja terül el, kivételesen tiszta időben még a Pozsonyig húzódó Kis-Kárpátokat is láthatjuk.
A hatszög alaprajzú, kőből épült, 3 szintes kilátót a Nagy-Somló tetején 2015-ben újították fel. Mellette fedett pihenőhely és sütögető található.

- A tatabányai buszokkal a Vértessomló, autóbusz-forduló megállóig célszerű utaznunk.

- A buszfordulótól induljunk északkeletnek (a forduló félkör-kanyarjában kezdődő utcán) a Szabadság tér nevű kis utcán, amely gyorsan a Rákóczi Ferenc utcára terel minket. Ezen fut a P jelzés, melyet Vértessomló széléig követünk. Ott balra, a P▲ jelzésre térve jutunk a kilátóhoz (2 km, 125 m szintemelkedés).

- Vértessomlón az erdőbe tartó Óhegy utca szélén parkolhatunk.
