Vigántpetendről nézve a Nagyvázsony felé vezető szerpentines út nyolcadik kanyarjánál áll a domboldalban a torony, ahonnan a környező dimbes-dombos tájat kémlelhetjük. Egykor erre vezetett a római út, amely a mai Dunántúl nagy részét lefedő Pannonia tartomány egyik legfontosabb kereskedelmi- és hadiútvonala volt. Az I. században kezdtek kiépülni a Balaton-felvidéken a római villagazdaságok, amelyeket az óbudai Aquincumot a mai szlovéniai Ptujjal összekötő főútvonal kapcsolt be a Római Birodalom vérkeringésébe. Ezért is találó a régi római őrtorony mintájára épült, zömök kilátó, amelynek 50 cm széles falaiba 35 m³ pannon tengeri mészkövet épített be Főzör László kőműves; a lépcsőzet és a tető ácsmunkáját pedig Fekete Ferenc és testvérei készítették. A 2016-ban átadott építményt a 4. században Pannoniában született, később tours-i püspökké választott Szent Mártonnak ajánlották.
A kilátó körüli füves-ligetes terület közösségi térként is funkcionál, alkalmanként rendezvényeknek is helyszínt ad, míg a kirándulók a domboldal lejtését ügyesen kihasználó fabútoroknál pihenhetnek meg.
